Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FabenCOV is an equine-derived polyclonal antibody therapy consisting of purified F(ab')2 fragments, developed by Fabentech for the treatment of COVID-19. By utilizing a polyclonal approach, the drug targets multiple epitopes on the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which is intended to provide broader protection against viral variants compared to monoclonal antibodies. The mechanism involves direct neutralization of the virus, preventing its attachment and entry into human cells. FabenCOV is being advanced through the EPIC-CROWN-2 consortium and has entered Phase 2 clinical testing to evaluate its safety and efficacy in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
