Overview

Factor IX-CTP is a long-acting recombinant coagulation factor IX engineered by covalent fusion to a carboxyl-terminal peptide (CTP) sequence derived from human chorionic gonadotropin to extend its circulatory half-life for replacement therapy in hemophilia B. By supplying functional factor IX to the intrinsic coagulation cascade, it is intended to correct factor IX deficiency, promote thrombin generation, and restore effective hemostasis with less frequent intravenous dosing than standard factor IX products. The CTP fusion prolongs circulation mainly via reduced clearance and engagement of the neonatal Fc receptor recycling pathway, without altering the native procoagulant mechanism of factor IX.
