Factor XIII (human)

Factor XIII (human) is a purified, heat-treated, lyophilized concentrate of coagulation factor XIII derived from pooled human plasma. It is an endogenous enzyme essential for the final step in the blood coagulation cascade, where it is activated by thrombin to form FXIIIa—a transglutaminase that crosslinks fibrin and stabilizes clots against fibrinolysis[2][5][8]. Used primarily for prophylactic treatment and perioperative management of bleeding in patients with congenital FXIII deficiency—a rare hereditary bleeding disorder—this therapy replaces missing or deficient endogenous FXIII to maintain hemostasis[1][4][6].
