Overview
A faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) therapy developed by the Hungarian company Sejtterapia Kozpont Kft. for the treatment of primary or recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). The therapy utilizes the Burgin-Matic System (BMS), a proprietary standardized microbiota transplantation system designed to produce a consistent faecal bacterial suspension from screened healthy donor stool. By transferring a diverse community of live commensal microorganisms into the patient's gastrointestinal tract, the treatment aims to restore colonization resistance and correct the gut dysbiosis that allows C. difficile to proliferate. It has been evaluated in clinical trials (notably NCT03053505) comparing its efficacy and safety against standard-of-care antibiotics like vancomycin and fidaxomicin.
