Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FagolitosPlus is a food supplement developed and manufactured by Arafarma Group for the prevention and treatment of renal lithiasis, specifically calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate kidney stones. It is administered orally as sustained-release granules in sachets, designed to release its components over a 24-hour period. The product contains a combination of hydroxycitric acid (HCA) derived from *Garcinia cambogia* extract, magnesium, vitamin B6, zinc, and vitamin A. Its mechanism of action involves hydroxycitric acid inhibiting the crystallization and promoting the dissolution of calcium-based stones through electrostatic interactions with calcium ions. Additionally, magnesium helps reduce the intestinal absorption of dietary oxalate, while vitamin B6 aids in reducing the endogenous production of oxalate. Clinical trials have evaluated FagolitosPlus as an adjuvant to extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), demonstrating improved stone fragmentation rates compared to placebo.
