Overview

FAGOX is a bacteriophage-based product developed by HEDROS for the prevention and treatment of Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND) and other Vibrio infections in shrimp aquaculture. The product utilizes phage therapy, employing specific bacteriophages that target and lyse pathogenic Vibrio bacteria, particularly *Vibrio parahaemolyticus* strains that carry the pirABvp genes responsible for AHPND. By utilizing a sophisticated recognition process, FAGOX eliminates harmful bacterial strains with high specificity without disrupting beneficial microorganisms within the aquaculture ecosystem. It is intended as an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to antibiotics for controlling mass mortality in farmed Pacific white shrimp (*Litopenaeus vannamei*).
