Overview

Falciparum malaria protein 11 + AS01B is a recombinant subunit vaccine candidate for the prevention of *Plasmodium falciparum* malaria. The active component, FMP011, is a recombinant form of the *P. falciparum* liver-stage antigen 1 (LSA1), designed to induce immune responses targeting the parasite during its intrahepatic stage in humans[2][4]. The formulation includes the adjuvant AS01B, which enhances both humoral and cellular immune responses. Preclinical studies have shown that immunization with FMP011/AS01B induces strong IFN-gamma production by CD4+ T cells and antibody responses in certain mouse strains[2]. This combination aims to control parasitemia and prevent clinical disease by eliciting robust immunity against early stages of *P. falciparum* infection[2][4][5].
