Fallopian tube pericytes are a type of human pericyte derived from fallopian tube tissue. These cells, like other mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), have been investigated for their potential regenerative capacity and immune-privileged properties in the context of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). In a preclinical study involving a murine model of DMD, fallopian tube pericytes were administered via weekly intraperitoneal injections over 8 weeks to evaluate their impact on motor ability and lifespan. However, this specific study found that fallopian tube pericytes did not significantly increase the lifespan of the affected mice, unlike adipose tissue-derived pericytes.
