Fallypride is a high-affinity, selective antagonist of dopamine D2 and D3 receptors. It is primarily used in medical research as a radiotracer for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, especially when labeled with fluorine‑18 ([18F]fallypride). This allows for non-invasive measurement of dopamine receptor protein concentrations in the living human brain. Fallypride PET imaging has been instrumental in studying neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, alcoholism, stress-related conditions, cognitive deficits during aging, and Alzheimer’s disease.
