Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Familact 2 Plus is a synbiotic formulation developed by the pharmaceutical company Zist Takhmir. It is an oral capsule containing a concentrated blend of several probiotic bacterial strains combined with a prebiotic fiber, fructooligosaccharides (FOS). The probiotic component typically includes species from the *Lactobacillus*, *Bifidobacterium*, and *Streptococcus* genera, which work synergistically to restore and maintain the balance of the intestinal microbiota. The mechanism of action involves the competitive exclusion of pathogenic microorganisms, the production of antimicrobial substances such as lactic acid and bacteriocins, and the modulation of the host's mucosal immune system. It also aids in strengthening the intestinal epithelial barrier and improving digestive processes. Familact 2 Plus is primarily indicated for the management of functional gastrointestinal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic constipation, and various types of diarrhea (including antibiotic-associated and infectious diarrhea), as well as for general immune health support.
