Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Famotidine + calcium carbonate + magnesium hydroxide is an oral combination medication used to relieve heartburn and symptoms caused by acid indigestion and sour stomach. Famotidine is a histamine-2 (H2) receptor antagonist that decreases gastric acid production by blocking H2 receptors on the parietal cells of the stomach. Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that act rapidly to neutralize existing stomach acid. This combination provides both immediate relief (via antacids) and longer-lasting reduction in acid production (via famotidine). It is available over-the-counter in chewable tablet form for short-term use in adults[3][6][8].
