FANG(30)

FANG(30) is an investigational oral formulation containing a standardized extract of andrographolide (30%), a diterpenoid lactone derived from the medicinal herb *Andrographis paniculata*. Developed by Juan C. Bertoglio, MD, and colleagues, it is being evaluated as an adjunctive therapy to conventional treatments like methotrexate and prednisone for patients with active rheumatoid arthritis. The drug exerts anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects by inhibiting key signaling pathways, including NF-κB, MAPK/ERK, and NFAT. This inhibition leads to the downregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6, as well as inflammatory mediators like COX-2 and iNOS. Clinical pilot studies have demonstrated its potential to reduce joint swelling, tenderness, and systemic inflammatory markers in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
