Fang-Ji-Di-Huang-Decoction

Fang-Ji-Di-Huang-Decoction (FJDH) is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula first documented in the *Synopsis of the Golden Chamber* (Jin Gui Yao Lue) during the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is a multi-herbal preparation consisting of the dried roots of *Rehmannia glutinosa*, *Stephania tetrandra*, *Saposhnikovia divaricata*, and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*, along with the dried twigs of *Cinnamomum cassia*. Traditionally used to clear heat, remove dampness, and nourish blood, modern pharmacological research has explored its potential in treating psoriasis. The decoction appears to work by inhibiting the IL-23/Th17 inflammatory axis, thereby reducing the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-22, and TNF-α. A notable aspect of its preparation is the traditional use of copperware, which facilitates the formation of bioactive complexes between *Rehmannia glutinosa* polysaccharides and copper ions, significantly enhancing the formula's therapeutic efficacy in suppressing skin inflammation and keratinocyte proliferation.
