Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fangji Huangqi Decoction (FHD) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula traditionally used to treat conditions characterized by wind-edema or surface-deficiency edema. It typically consists of four primary herbs: *Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae* (Fangji), *Radix Astragali* (Huangqi), *Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae* (Baizhu), and *Radix Glycyrrhizae* (Gancao), often supplemented with *Zingiber officinale* (Shengjiang) and *Ziziphus jujuba* (Dazao). In the context of chronic heart failure (CHF), FHD is investigated for its ability to improve cardiac function and alleviate symptoms of fluid retention by tonifying Qi, strengthening the Spleen, and promoting diuresis. Research suggests its mechanism involves the regulation of water-electrolyte balance, reduction of inflammatory cytokines, and improvement of myocardial energy metabolism.
