Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fantom Encore is a third-generation sirolimus-eluting bioresorbable scaffold (BRS) developed by REVA Medical for the treatment of coronary artery disease. It is constructed from Tyrocore, a proprietary, radiopaque, tyrosine-derived polymer that allows for full visibility under X-ray without the need for platinum markers. The device features thin struts (95-115 μm) and is designed to provide temporary mechanical support to the coronary artery during the healing process before being fully resorbed by the body over a period of 36 to 48 months. The scaffold elutes sirolimus, an antiproliferative agent, to prevent neointimal hyperplasia and restenosis. It received CE Mark approval in 2018 as an alternative to permanent metallic drug-eluting stents.
