FAP-alpha-siRNA-2 is a specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) sequence designed to target and silence the expression of Fibroblast Activation Protein alpha (FAP-α). FAP-α is a cell surface glycoprotein that is significantly overexpressed in the tumor stroma and various malignant cells, including those in prostate cancer. By mediating the degradation of FAP-α mRNA, this siRNA reduces FAP-α protein levels, which has been shown in preclinical models to inhibit the proliferation and invasion of prostate cancer cells while promoting apoptosis. Research indicates that the down-regulation of FAP-α by this siRNA suppresses the nuclear translocation of β-catenin, a key component of the Wnt signaling pathway. In vivo studies using xenograft models have demonstrated that treatment with FAP-alpha-siRNA-2 leads to a significant reduction in tumor volume and weight.
