FAP-alpha small interfering RNA-1 is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic agent designed to silence the expression of Fibroblast Activation Protein alpha (FAP-α). FAP-α is a pro-tumorigenic serine protease overexpressed in the stroma of various cancers, including prostate cancer, where it promotes tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and survival. This specific siRNA sequence targets FAP-α mRNA for degradation, thereby reducing protein expression. Preclinical studies in prostate cancer models (DU145 and LNCaP cells) have demonstrated that knockdown of FAP-α using this siRNA inhibits the nuclear translocation of β-catenin, suppresses tumor cell invasion and proliferation, and induces apoptosis. In vivo experiments in nude mice have shown significant reductions in tumor volume and weight following treatment with this agent.
