Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FAR IBD PLUS is a live attenuated lyophilized vaccine developed by FARVET for the prevention of Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD), also known as Gumboro Disease, in poultry. The vaccine utilizes the Lukert intermediate strain of the Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV). This strain is characterized as an "intermediate" strain, meaning it possesses a level of pathogenicity that allows it to break through maternal antibodies while remaining safe for the birds. The mechanism of action involves the replication of the attenuated virus in the host, stimulating both humoral and cellular immune responses against IBDV, specifically targeting the bursa of Fabricius to provide protection against field strains of the virus.
