Overview

Faricimab is a humanized bispecific monoclonal antibody that simultaneously targets and inhibits both vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) and angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2). By blocking these two pathways, it suppresses abnormal blood vessel growth, reduces vascular permeability, and stabilizes retinal blood vessels. Faricimab is the first bispecific antibody approved for ophthalmologic use and is indicated for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO). It is administered by intravitreal injection. The drug was developed by Roche/Genentech[2][3][5][6].
