Farletuzumab + carboplatin + taxane is a combination chemotherapy regimen investigated for the treatment of platinum-sensitive epithelial ovarian cancer in first relapse. It pairs farletuzumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets folate receptor alpha (FRα), with carboplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic alkylating agent, and a taxane (either paclitaxel or docetaxel), which disrupts cell division by stabilizing microtubules[1][2][3]. Farletuzumab mediates antitumor effects via antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), and receptor internalization. Carboplatin induces DNA crosslinking, leading to cancer cell death. Taxanes inhibit microtubule depolymerization, causing mitotic arrest. This regimen was evaluated in a large phase III clinical trial for its efficacy and safety relative to carboplatin/taxane alone in relapsed ovarian cancer, with additional trials in other epithelial cancers[1][2][3].
