Overview

Farletuzumab-matched placebo is the inactive control substance used in Phase 3 clinical trials of farletuzumab (MORAb-003), a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting folate receptor alpha (FRA). Specifically, it was utilized in the FAR-131 study (NCT00849667) conducted by Morphotek, a subsidiary of Eisai, which evaluated the efficacy and safety of farletuzumab in combination with carboplatin and taxane chemotherapy. The study population included patients with platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal carcinoma, and fallopian tube cancer in their first relapse. The placebo is an intravenous solution formulated to be indistinguishable from the active farletuzumab infusion, ensuring the maintenance of the double-blind study design.
