Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FARVAC REO is a live attenuated vaccine developed by FARVET for the immunization of poultry against avian reovirus infections. Avian reoviruses are significant pathogens in the poultry industry, primarily associated with viral arthritis, tenosynovitis, and malabsorption syndrome, which can lead to stunted growth and significant economic losses. The vaccine contains an attenuated strain of the virus (typically the S1133 strain) that stimulates the bird's immune system to produce protective antibodies without inducing clinical disease. It is commonly used in breeder flocks to provide maternal immunity to progeny and in young chicks to establish early protection during susceptible growth periods.
