Overview

Fascia lata membrane is a novel allogenic-derived acellular matrix produced from human fascia lata allograft. Developed for use in periodontal and implant dentistry, it serves as a biological scaffold to enhance the periodontal phenotype around dental implants. Specifically, it is used to augment the thickness and width of keratinized tissue and labial bone thickness. By providing a structural framework for cellular infiltration and tissue remodeling, it acts as an alternative to autogenous subepithelial connective tissue grafts (SCTG), thereby eliminating the need for a secondary donor site and reducing patient morbidity. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials by Kafrelsheikh University, often in combination with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to optimize soft tissue healing and integration.
