Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fasedienol is a first-in-class, investigational pherine nasal spray developed for the acute treatment of social anxiety disorder (SAD). It is designed to rapidly regulate the olfactory-amygdala neural circuits associated with fear and anxiety, attenuating the tone of the sympathetic autonomic nervous system. Unlike current anxiety medications, fasedienol does not require systemic absorption, does not potentiate GABA-A receptors, and does not bind directly to neurons in the brain. Its novel mechanism of action differentiates it from SSRIs, SNRIs, benzodiazepines, and other available treatments for SAD. Fasedienol has demonstrated rapid onset of action in clinical trials and is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 studies as a potential acute therapy for adults with social anxiety disorder[1][5][6][7].
