Overview

Fasinumab is a recombinant, fully human monoclonal antibody of the IgG4 subclass that selectively targets and binds to nerve growth factor (NGF), inhibiting its activity. By blocking NGF signaling through its receptors (Tropomyosin receptor kinase A receptor and p75 neurotrophin receptor), fasinumab disrupts nociceptive pain pathways, leading to analgesic effects. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of chronic pain conditions such as osteoarthritis and chronic low back pain. Fasinumab has demonstrated significant reductions in pain and improvements in physical function compared to placebo in clinical trials, including patients who did not respond adequately to standard analgesics like NSAIDs or opioids. The drug is under investigation by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and Teva for these indications[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
