Overview

Fasitibant is a non-peptide, sulfonamide-containing small molecule that acts as a selective antagonist of the bradykinin B2 receptor. It was developed for the treatment of osteoarthritis and investigated primarily as an intra-articular injection for symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee. Fasitibant inhibits pro-inflammatory responses in vitro and alleviates inflammatory hyperalgesia in animal models by blocking bradykinin-mediated pathways, which are implicated in pain and inflammation. The drug was originally developed by Menarini Group but its development has been discontinued after reaching Phase II clinical trials[1][2][3][5].
