The FAST personalized tumor vaccine is an autologous cell-based immunotherapy developed by The University of Hong Kong - Shenzhen Hospital. The acronym FAST stands for 'Fragmented Autoantigen Stimulated T-cell,' which describes the vaccine's unique manufacturing process. In this process, a patient's own T-cells are collected and stimulated ex vivo with fragmented autoantigens derived from their own tumor tissue. This method is designed to generate a broad and highly specific immune response against the unique neoantigens and tumor-associated antigens present in the patient's malignancy. The vaccine is currently being investigated in Phase I/II clinical trials (such as the FAST-CR study) for the treatment of recurrent or late-stage malignant solid tumors, often in combination with radiotherapy to enhance the anti-tumor efficacy and overcome immune evasion.
