Fastjel

Fastjel is a topical gel formulation containing 2.5% ketoprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class. Developed and extensively studied by Akdeniz University, particularly in the context of emergency medicine, Fastjel is utilized for the localized treatment of mechanical low back pain. Its mechanism of action involves the non-selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, which subsequently reduces the biosynthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain and inflammation. By delivering the active ingredient topically, Fastjel aims to provide effective analgesia at the site of injury while minimizing the systemic exposure and associated adverse effects typically seen with oral or parenteral NSAIDs and opioids.
