Overview

Fatrovax RHD is a **veterinary recombinant inactivated rabbit haemorrhagic disease vaccine** for rabbits, including pet and dwarf rabbits. It is developed and marketed by Fatro and is authorized in the European Union for active immunization from 28 days of age to reduce mortality, infection, clinical signs, and organ lesions caused by **rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus 1 and 2**. The vaccine contains two recombinant capsid protein antigens that assemble into **virus-like particles** representing RHDV1 and RHDV2, formulated as a suspension for injection with aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. Its mechanism is prophylactic induction of protective humoral immunity against lagovirus capsid antigens, with onset of immunity at about 1 week after vaccination and duration of immunity of 1 year.
