Overview

FAV-Africa is a polyvalent antivenom composed of highly purified and pasteurized F(ab')2 fragments used for the treatment of snake envenomations in sub-Saharan Africa. It is administered by slow intravenous injection and has demonstrated safety and efficacy in clinical trials, with minimal adverse effects reported. The drug works by neutralizing venom toxins from multiple snake species, thereby preventing or reversing the toxic effects of envenomation. This antivenom addresses a critical need for effective snakebite treatment in African regions where such incidents are common.
