fazadinium bromide

Fazadinium bromide is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent used as a muscle relaxant in anesthesia. It acts as an antagonist at the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor at the neuromuscular junction, producing muscle relaxation by inhibiting synaptic transmission. The drug has a rapid onset and intermediate duration of action. It was marketed under the trade name Fazadon and is classified as a quaternary ammonium compound type muscle relaxant[1][6][7]. Its primary indication was to facilitate endotracheal intubation and provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation[6]. The current marketing status is unknown.
