It acts as a dual orexin receptor antagonist (DORA), specifically blocking both orexin OX1 and OX2 receptors to promote sleep. Fazamorexant is being developed by Shanghai Haiyan Pharmaceutical Technology and Jiangsu Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group in China. As of late 2024, it has reached phase 3 clinical trials for insomnia[1][2][4].
