Overview

Fazarabine is a synthetic pyrimidine nucleoside analogue and an antimetabolite. Structurally, it is an aza-substituted cytidine in which the ribose moiety is replaced by an arabinose sugar. It acts as an RNA synthesis inhibitor and was developed primarily for anticancer indications. Fazarabine has been investigated in clinical trials for various neoplasms, including advanced solid tumors and non-small cell lung cancer[1][2][3][4][8][9]. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of RNA synthesis by incorporation into nucleic acids during DNA replication or repair processes.
