FB1002 is a long-acting recombinant human progranulin (PGRN) protein therapeutic being developed for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, specifically amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Progranulin is a secreted glycoprotein that plays a critical role in lysosomal function, neuroinflammation, and neuronal survival. Mutations in the GRN gene, which lead to progranulin deficiency, are a known cause of frontotemporal dementia, and reduced PGRN levels are also implicated in the pathogenesis of ALS. FB1002 is designed to supplement endogenous PGRN levels, thereby exerting neuroprotective effects and modulating neuroinflammatory responses. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics following subcutaneous administration.
