Overview

FB2004 is an investigational long-acting small molecule drug candidate developed by Frontier Biotechnologies for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It functions as a capsid assembly modulator (CAM), also known as a core protein inhibitor. FB2004 specifically targets the HBV core protein (HBcAg), which is essential for the assembly of the viral capsid and the packaging of pregenomic RNA. By binding to the core protein, FB2004 disrupts these critical steps in the viral life cycle, thereby inhibiting viral replication and the production of new infectious virions. As part of Frontier's focus on long-acting therapeutics, FB2004 is designed to potentially offer a more convenient dosing schedule compared to current daily oral standard-of-care treatments. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
