Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FBT-N401 is a small-molecule Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP) activator being developed by Fusion Biotechnology (FusionBioTech) for the treatment of dry and wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). YAP is a key transcriptional co-activator and mechanotransducer in the Hippo signaling pathway that plays a critical role in maintaining retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cell survival and function. Impaired cell-matrix adhesion in aging RPE cells leads to YAP inactivation and subsequent cellular senescence, contributing to AMD pathogenesis. By activating YAP, FBT-N401 aims to reverse RPE senescence, promote cell survival, and restore visual function. The therapeutic candidate is currently in the research stage of development.
