Overview

Fc-PYY3-36 is a long-acting, recombinant fusion protein consisting of peptide YY (PYY) fragment 3–36 conjugated to an immunoglobulin Fc domain. This modification extends the half-life of PYY3-36, a gut-derived hormone that acts as an agonist at the neuropeptide Y receptor Y2 (NPY2R), which is involved in appetite regulation and glucose homeostasis. By activating NPY2R in the hypothalamus, PYY3-36 reduces food intake and promotes satiety. The Fc conjugation allows for less frequent dosing compared to native PYY3-36, which has a short half-life. Preclinical studies have shown that long-acting analogs like Fc-PYY3-36 can induce significant weight loss and improve metabolic parameters in models of obesity and diabetes[4][6]. The drug is being developed primarily for obesity treatment.
