Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FC99 is a small molecule inhibitor of Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) that exhibits potent anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective activities. It works by interfering with the TLR3 signaling pathway, thereby suppressing the induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines and type I interferons. Preclinical studies have highlighted its potential in treating systemic inflammatory conditions such as sepsis and acute lung injury. Recent research also suggests an anti-epileptogenic effect, where FC99 administration following status epilepticus reduces neuroinflammation and the subsequent development of spontaneous recurrent seizures in animal models.
