Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FCGR2A stimRNA is a preclinical megakaryocyte- and platelet-selective naked modified small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to suppress the expression of the low-affinity IgG receptor FcγRIIA (encoded by the FCGR2A gene). Developed by researchers at Thomas Jefferson University, this therapeutic candidate is being investigated for the prevention and treatment of post-ischemic stroke reperfusion injury. By selectively downregulating platelet FcγRIIA surface expression, FCGR2A stimRNA attenuates FcγRIIA-dependent platelet activation, P-selectin exposure, and αIIbβ3 integrin activation, thereby reducing thrombo-inflammation and cerebral infarction volume without compromising general hemostatic responses to other platelet agonists.
