Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FCN-307 is a small molecule inhibitor of the urate transporter 1 (URAT1) protein, currently under development by Chongqing Fochon Pharmaceutical for the treatment of gout. URAT1, encoded by the SLC22A12 gene, is a renal transporter responsible for the reabsorption of filtered uric acid from the proximal tubules back into the blood. By inhibiting URAT1, FCN-307 increases the renal excretion of uric acid, thereby lowering serum urate levels in patients with hyperuricemia. The drug is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development, targeting the underlying metabolic cause of gout by promoting urate excretion.
