FCN-342

FCN-342 is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of the urate transporter 1 (URAT1), also known as solute carrier family 22 member 12 (SLC22A12). Developed by Chongqing Fuchuang Pharmaceutical Research, a subsidiary of Fosun Pharma, the drug is designed to treat hyperuricemia and gout. URAT1 is primarily expressed in the apical membrane of the renal proximal tubule and is responsible for the majority of uric acid reabsorption from the glomerular filtrate. By inhibiting URAT1, FCN-342 promotes the excretion of uric acid in the urine, thereby reducing serum uric acid levels. It is currently in Phase II clinical development, aiming to provide a potent and selective uricosuric option for patients who do not achieve target uric acid levels with standard xanthine oxidase inhibitors.
