Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FDRC is a stabilized chemical cocktail of small molecules developed to reprogram macrophages into a pro-repair phenotype known as DREAM (Dual-repair Epithelial-Endothelial Macrophage). By targeting and activating core transcription factors—specifically CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein beta (Cebpb), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (Ppara), and early growth response protein 1 (Egr1)—FDRC induces the expression of key tissue-repair and angiogenic factors, including heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (Hbegf), growth differentiation factor 15 (Gdf15), and vascular endothelial growth factor A (Vegfa). In preclinical models of ischemia-reperfusion acute kidney injury (IR-AKI), administration of FDRC or adoptive transfer of FDRC-reprogrammed macrophages promotes tubular and capillary repair, restores renal function, and prevents the progression of AKI to chronic kidney disease (CKD).
