Overview

FE002-SK2 is a human fetal dermal progenitor fibroblast cell line originally derived, isolated, and characterized at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) in Switzerland. These allogeneic fibroblast cells are culture-expanded and cryopreserved to establish master and working cell banks for clinical use. FE002-SK2 cells are used clinically as off-the-freezer living cell therapies or as the foundational substrate in standardized skin substitutes, including dermal templates and dermo-epidermal grafts. The cells significantly enhance collagen deposition relative to patient-derived fibroblasts and promote rapid, robust dermal matrix formation under vitamin C stimulation. Through paracrine actions (including secretion of cytokines, growth factors, and exosomes), they stimulate proliferation and migration of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, supporting wound repair, closure, and high-quality tissue healing in severe burn care and other cutaneous injuries. FE002-SK2-based constructs are noted for a strong safety record and excellent tolerance, with no reported immunologic rejection in clinical series. The cell line is manufactured under clinical-grade standards, with batch-release controls for sterility, viability, mycoplasma, and pathogen testing, and is being evaluated in multiple clinical studies.
