Febantel

Febantel is a veterinary anthelmintic drug belonging to the benzimidazole class, primarily used to treat gastrointestinal nematode infections in animals, especially dogs. It acts as a pro-drug that is metabolized in the liver to form fenbendazole and other active metabolites. The mechanism of action involves interference with microtubule formation in parasitic cells, inhibition of glucose uptake, and disruption of energy metabolism within parasites. Febantel is commonly included as one component in combination deworming products (such as Drontal Plus) for broad-spectrum control of roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms[3][6]. It is not recommended for use in pregnant animals or very young puppies[5].
