Overview

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is an investigational live biotherapeutic product being developed by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for the treatment of steroid-refractory acute gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease (GI-GvHD). Acute GI-GvHD is a severe complication following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) and is associated with high mortality and reduced gut microbiota diversity. FMT aims to restore a healthy and diverse gut microbiome by introducing microbiota from a healthy donor. This is believed to regulate the recipient's immune responses and improve intestinal homeostasis. Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is conducting a Phase II, single-arm trial (NCT07364617) to evaluate the safety and efficacy of FMT in this patient population. [1]
