Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fecal microbiota transplant G3 is an oral, frozen capsule formulation of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) developed by Boston Medical Center. It is designed to restore gut microbiome diversity and prevent recurrence in patients following a first episode of *Clostridium difficile* infection (CDI). The 'G3' (third generation) formulation is specifically designed to deliver the microbial product to the large intestine, offering a non-invasive alternative to traditional colonoscopic or endoscopic delivery methods. By replenishing the commensal gut flora, the therapy aims to reverse the dysbiosis caused by the infection and subsequent antibiotic treatments, such as vancomycin, thereby reducing the risk of disease relapse.
