Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a biological therapy being investigated for the treatment of uncomplicated diverticulitis. It involves transferring fecal bacteria and other microbes from a healthy, screened donor into the recipient's gastrointestinal tract. [5, 9] The goal is to restore a healthy and diverse gut microbiome, which is often disturbed (dysbiosis) in patients with diverticular disease. [11, 2] A pilot study (NCT05373784) led by investigator Dr. J. Justin Maykel is assessing the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of FMT administered via colonoscopy for preventing recurrence in patients with uncomplicated diverticulitis. [11] While FMT is an established and effective treatment for recurrent *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI), its use for diverticulitis is still considered experimental. [2, 11]
