Overview
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) oral capsules are a microbial therapy consisting of standardized fecal microbiota suspension encapsulated for oral delivery. The treatment aims to restore a healthy gut microbiome, which can influence metabolic parameters and immune dysregulation. In the context of clinical research sponsored by Shen Xujun, it is being evaluated for its efficacy in improving glycemic control (HbA1c, fasting blood glucose) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and reducing thyroid autoantibodies (TPOAb, TgAb) in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. The mechanism involves the transfer of a diverse community of beneficial microbes from a healthy donor into the recipient's gastrointestinal tract to displace pathogenic or dysbiotic flora and restore metabolic and immune homeostasis.
