Overview
The fecal microbiota transplantation oral therapeutic beverage is an investigational microbiome-based therapy developed by Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital. It consists of a liquid formulation containing a complex community of live microorganisms derived from the stool of healthy donors. The therapeutic is designed to be administered orally to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to modulate the gut-brain axis and correct gut dysbiosis, which is hypothesized to contribute to the behavioral and gastrointestinal symptoms of the condition. It is currently being evaluated in a randomized, double-blind clinical trial in China to assess its efficacy and safety in improving core ASD symptoms.
