Feiyanning

Feiyanning is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) formula developed by Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It has been used clinically for over 20 years to manage lung cancer and delay resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of protective autophagy in cancer cells, which is often induced by chemotherapy or targeted therapy as a survival mechanism. Specifically, Feiyanning down-regulates the expression of autophagy-related proteins ATG5 and ATG7, inhibits autophagosome formation, and prevents lysosomal fusion, thereby promoting apoptosis and enhancing the efficacy of drugs like cisplatin and gefitinib.
